Stormraven Impression: In the Box

First of all an apology to those of you who got here quickly and found nothing to read. Our bad. We somehow deleted the article while we were publishing it. If only that was a first…

Following the success of our Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie box contents photo review we thought we’d do something similar for the much anticipated Stormraven. Check out our new HD gallery!

The Stormraven’s initial impression wasn’t particularly great as the responses to the leaked images quickly revealed. Now that the kit is officially on sale and people are handling the Stormraven in person opinions are being revised up from “My Goodness it’s So Awful” towards “I Gotta Get Me One of These”.

As with Ultramarines the gdmnw.com team are giving you the chance to get a good close look at the kit. Our new Stormraven gallery is now live in the showcase section of the gdmnw.com gallery.

Be warned, those photographs are HUGE.

Opening The Box

The Stormraven box is about the same size as a Battalion or Stompa box. While this is one of the more expensive Space Marine kits you do feel you’re getting good value for your money when you pick the box up and walk towards the counter. The same can’t be said of the amazing new Furioso Dreadnought box which comes in a box only 25% of the size. We’ll talk about that gorgeous kit another time…

The Stormraven is definitely a “Vendetta experience” for marine players. The sprues are really well laid out and having all of the options available to you is a wonderful thing. Numbering the parts is a small thing but it really helps you to feel confident when you’re busy assembling.

The instructions are the usual high quality fare you’d expect from a large company like Games Workshop. The illustrations are excellent and if you’re willing to follow along you’ll be hard pressed to make any mistakes. The kit is as well designed as any we’ve assembled before and everything fit together tightly and neatly the first time we tried. Resin lovers the world over will no doubt be disappointed to learn that this kit requires no pinning, filling, reshaping, trimming or bending to build. Sorry folks!

Now that we’ve seen the kit up close an personal the whole gdmnw.com team have changed their minds. This is a great kit and we’re sure it’ll become a staple of games rooms the world over within a few weeks. Whether or not it will develop the same tournament presence that the Vendetta/Valkyrie kit possesses remains to be seen.

We love the kit. If you remain unsure, take a look at the HD photos in our gallery, we think you’ll like what you see!
